Abstract:

This paper presents a modified method for approximating nonlinear systems by a sequence of linear time varying systems. The convergence proof is outlined and the potential of this methodology is discussed. Simulation results are used to show the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Linear Time - Varying Systems

The notion of properness, well-known for constant linear systems, is generalized to the time-varying case. In a module theoretic framework intrinsic characterizations of input-output system properness are derived. For this, ltrations and the associated Hilbert polyno-mials are used. Classical criteria for properness of polynomial and state representations for constant linear systems are general...

Optimal Finite-time Control of Positive Linear Discrete-time Systems

This paper considers solving optimization problem for linear discrete time systems such that closed-loop discrete-time system is positive (i.e., all of its state variables have non-negative values) and also finite-time stable. For this purpose, by considering a quadratic cost function, an optimal controller is designed such that in addition to minimizing the cost function, the positivity proper...

Further Observations on Blocking Zeros in Linear Muitivariabie systems (RESEARCH NOTE).

While attempting to clarify the confusion concerning the conceptualization of "blocking zeros" in state space in the recent literature, some new observations are made on the relationship between pole-zero cancellation and transmission blocking. An important distinction between uncontrollable and unobservable eigenvalue s is pointed out; and it is argued that the description of a Blocking Zero, ...

On the stabilization of discrete-time linear time-varying systems

This note considers feedback stabilization of discrete-time linear time-varying systems. An operator-theoretic formulation of time-varying systems is used which allows the development to follow closely the linear time-invariant case. Using this framework, an extended Lyapunov stability result is derived. This leads to a direct proof of a feedback stabilization scheme due to Cheng without the us...

Adaptive Stabilization of Linear Time-Varying Systems

This paper addresses the problem of adaptive stabilization of continuous-time and time-varying linear of the form ( ) ( ) ( ) ( ) x t t x t Bu t = Θ + & , when the state is accessible and with an input vector of the same dimension as the vector state. The proposed control scheme guarantees that the state of the plant, with bounded time-varying parameters, asymptotically converges to zero. For t...
